TajGVK Hotels & Resorts Limited has been rebranded as Krishna GVK Luxury Hotels Limited after a recent ownership change. The company was formed in 1995 as a joint venture between the GVK-Bhupal family and IHCL. As IHCL sold its entire stake in December 2025, the GVK-Bhupal family now fully owns the hotels. The hotel brand will remain Taj, operated by IHCL through management agreements.

New Delhi: TajGVK Hotels & Resorts Limited has been rebranded as Krishna GVK Luxury Hotels Limited, following the issue of a fresh Certificate of Incorporation by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on October 30.

The change follows a shift in the company’s ownership. In December 2025, The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) sold its entire 25.52% stake in the company to the GVK-Bhupal promoter family, and IHCL’s nominee directors stepped down from the board on December 30, 2025.

Formed in 1995 as a joint venture between the GVK-Bhupal family and IHCL, the company is now owned and led entirely by the promoter family. The company said the new name, Krishna GVK Luxury Hotels Limited, reflects this structure and its focus on the luxury segment.

While the corporate name has changed, the hotels themselves remain Taj. IHCL continues to operate all the company's hotels hotels in the portfolio under the Taj brand through long-term hotel management agreements. Guests, employees and partners will see no change in brand, service or standards, it stated.

Krishna GVK today owns six operating hotels across Hyderabad, Chennai, Chandigarh and Mumbai. These include Taj Krishna, Taj Deccan and Vivanta Begumpet in Hyderabad, Taj Club House in Chennai, Taj Chandigarh, and Taj Santacruz in Mumbai, the last held through its subsidiary Greenwoods Palaces & Resorts Private Limited.

The company said its next phase of growth begins in Bengaluru. Taj Yelahanka will be the first hotel to open under the Krishna GVK name, taking the portfolio to seven hotels. It follows the same model as the rest of the portfolio: owned by Krishna GVK and operated by IHCL under the Taj brand.

Joint MD Krishna Bhupal said the new name, Krishna GVK, marks the start of a new chapter for the company.

"Our hotels remain Taj. For over 25 years, our family and IHCL have built some of India’s finest hotels together, and we will continue this partnership through our management agreements," he said.

"Krishna GVK is built to grow, with a clear focus on expanding our portfolio into India’s high-potential hotel markets. Taj Yelahanka, a 256-key luxury hotel, will be the first to open under our new name towards the end of November, taking us into Bengaluru, one of India’s most dynamic hotel markets. Even after completing this landmark property, our net debt remains minimal, and our strong balance sheet puts us in a great position to pursue growth through both organic and inorganic routes," he added.
